This week two farmers markets are having their first market of the season!
For those of you who are interested in a CSA share, Soul Fire Farm still has farm shares available —
Located in Grafton, New York, Soul Fire Farm specifically delivers to the South End, among other communities in Albany and Troy. They have a sliding scale, including a “low income” option ($25/week) and an “EBT” option ($23/week), as well as offer a payment plan, making it affordable no matter what your income is!
“Soul Fire Farm is committed to ending racism and injustice in the food system. We raise life-giving food and act in solidarity with people marginalized by food apartheid. With deep reverence for the land and wisdom of our ancestors, we work to reclaim our collective right to belong to the earth and to have agency in the food system. We bring diverse communities together on this healing land to share skills on sustainable agriculture, natural building, spiritual activism, health and environmental justice. We are training the next generation of activist-farmers and strengthening the movements for food sovereignty and community self-determination.”
If you can’t catch those markets and don’t want to commit to a full farm share, the Capital Roots Veggie Mobile comes to many locations in the South End —
And, if you want to grow your own food there are also opportunities to work in multiple community gardens this summer! —
